Abstract

This research aims to prepare the digital generation by introducing coding learning to grade 5 students at SDN JATINGALEH 01 Semarang City using the code.org website. This type of research is qualitative with descriptive methods. This research was carried out at Jatingaleh 01 Elementary School, which is located at Jl. Kesatriaan, No.16 Jatingaleh, Kec. Candisari, Semarang City, Central Java 50254. The subjects in this research were class 5B students at SDN Jatingaleh 01. Data collection used observation techniques, student reflection and documentation. The validity of the data is carried out by confirming the results of observations, student reflections and learning documentation. Credibility test, triangulation is carried out by comparing the results of observations with student reflections. The research results show that learning coding helps develop students’ logic skills, problem solving and their involvement in the learning process. These initial findings support the importance of integrating coding learning in the elementary school curriculum as an effort to prepare students to face the challenges of the digital era. The research results show that Code.org’s game-based approach significantly explores students' experiences in learning coding.
